PROJECT 2: Recycling Mailbags
When I work with the most random and unique materials, I usually end up being the most proud of it. For this project, I found a polythene silver mail bag that was relatively thick and waterproof and a pair of old wind breaker shorts. Using the mail bag as the main material and the shorts as the inner lining of the pouch, I created my first structured, waterproof pouch.
PROCESS
Disassembled polythene metallic mail bag used as "fabric" for pouch
A4 Sheet used as template for pouch size
Mail bag cut to size
Cut out pockets of the shorts to use as a inside pocket of the pouch
Shorts (inner fabric) cut to the same size as the mail bag (outer fabric). Zipper sandwiched in between and sewn together.
The second inner and outer layers are sewn to the first layers.
Outer view
Shorts pocket sewn to inside layer before sewing the two layers together
Perimeters of the two layers sewn in neon yellow string.
Final product!!
