Who Is Mirim
I am a high school junior, living in Seoul, South Korea, with a passion for crafting. This website serves as a digital portfolio for all the crafting I have done. This space serves as a platform for my thought processes, ways thread has become a part of my life, my de-stressers and, overall, a space where I can reflect and continue to build my world of crafting/gifting!
WhY I Thread
Textiles have always fascinated me. From traditional weaving techniques, to modern sewing techniques, textiles allow us to express ourselves. Being able to recycle and repurpose old textiles into new, purposeful crafts has been an ongoing passion of mine. Re-arranging, composing, sketching, problem-solving are all aspects that sewing and crafting bring, which ultimately is why I love this art so much. To create something that begins with a single strand of thread is what continues to strengthen my passion for crafting.
WhY I Gift
I LOVE LOVE LOVE gifting. It doesn’t matter who it’s for, as long as I can get my hands on personalizing a gift, I am satisfied. Gifting is such a unique way of forming/strengthening a relationship; not only is it a way of showing care and respect towards one’s individuality, but it also is way to subtly show yours. As an introvert, I love gifting because it doesn’t require words- your words are expressed through the gift :)

Thread has the ability to connect completely different things—fabric to fabric, fabric to plastic, plastic to paper- the list is endless. With thread, history doesn’t just sit still; it stitches itself into every garment, every tapestry, every quilt. Without thread, the endless abilities of creation (repairing, building, transforming) would be impossible. Thread weaves the story of human ingenuity, holding together not just cloth, but culture itself. That’s why I’m obsessed.

It’s a silent language that screams, “I see you. I get you.” Gifting for someone I get makes me read between the lines, to notice the quirks, the behaviors, the little hints dropped during our daily interactions. Gifting allows me to express my gratitude and love towards the giftee. It’s not always about an expensive gift. Quality matters, yes, but quality without heart… why even bother?
At the end of the day, gifting is a love letter without words. If you don’t want to gift it, if the thought isn’t there, then there’s no point. The best part is the reaction, realizing that someone truly appreciates them is the best gift. The best gifts come wrapped in knowing, not just neat packages.

If you want to give a gift but aren’t close to them, it’s actually pretty simple. That’s me, most of the time. Gifting is my second language—practically fighting for first place. It doesn’t need words; your gift does all the talking. More often than not, it’s the spark that lights a new friendship or relationship. Everyone loves to feel seen and cared for, so a thoughtfully chosen gift? It won’t hurt anyone. In fact, it might just open doors you didn’t even know were there.

Yes, I love love love crafting and it’s my ultimate therapy and detox from the chaos of high school life, but that’s not all I do. As an introvert, crafting is how I recharge during my precious alone time (which I need), but I can’t just be alone 24/7. I love being with others, too!
Playing soccer with my teammates is a huge part of who I am. Without soccer, I wouldn’t be me. And I’m also not Mirim if I don’t have the love for food. Like, I eat more than my 20-year-old brother, no joke. So you’ll never catch me saying no to a sweet treat or a spontaneous adventure to a new restaurant or café.
Sewing and crafting might be my therapy, but soccer, friends, and food keep my life relatable and interesting.
