Behind the Scenes: Joint
A snippet of me working on my artwork ‘Joint’
Title: Joint
Medium: Paper cut into linear organic shapes, then glued to create a crown-like structure. One set (two pieces) is connected by string, sewn together in a ‘V’ pattern, later attached to other sets using paper glue.
Size: Approx. 60 cm x 7cm
Intention: This piece is a hanging paper sculpture with four paper chains, each chain containing 6 sets of paper ‘joints’, attached together through string. Each chain mimics a person’s spine- the backbone of the body. By connection multiple spines, the sculpture intends to symbolize the idea that all humans are interconnected. Thus the connection itself becomes the ‘backbone’ of a relationship, emphasizing the importance of support to human connection.
